Fashion Sense

As the United States faces the worst recession since the Great Depression, the auto industry is on the verge of collapse, and the banking crisis is driving millions of people out of their homes, probably the most pressing question that we want to ask our president is, "What will your wife be wearing at her next public appearance?"
Being the expert politician that he is, Obama will probably not answer this question straight-on, and instead will leave the entire country in suspense.
Judging from her past appearances, however, we can make some speculation.

When she appeared on Jay Leno (why are all of the politicians being interviewed on Jay Leno, btw? Is it because David Letterman is just too goddamned funny?) Michelle Obama wore this J. Crew ensemble. Unlike most of us, she can get away with wearing mustard. With this outfit, she communicated that she is as down-to-earth and approachable as all of the other affluent, trendy women who also shop at J. Crew.

And she blew us all away with her choice of attire for Inaguration. This sweet lemongrass wool lace dress was designed by Isabel Toledo, a Cuban-born American designer. Regardless of our political positions, I think that we can all acknoweldge that we have a well-dressed first lady!!!

Lent:

God's diet plan for Catholics. It's about three weeks into Lent, and I have allready managed to lose 7 pounds.

I am sensing, however, that I am on the verge of blowing it, and binging on creme puffs, hamburgers, fries, milkshakes, and pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

Not only will I be sacrificing an eternity in paradise for roasting on a rotisserie in hell, but I also will be blowing my chance to have a swimsuit-worthy frame for the summer~~!!

On a more optimistic note, I have just discovered that I will be receiving $1300 back in my tax returns.

The luddite that I am dating is contientiously objecting to pay his taxes at all. It's not his style, he says, to be supporting US military.

Wayne's World

I just saw Wayne's World for possibly the eight billionth time. It has been several years, though, and I found it to be just as hilarious as in years past. So many entertaining characters; Benjamin, the cop, the Doughnut shop owner, Noah, Waynes' ex, and por su puesto, Wayne and Garth themselves.

It is a very tight movie, the plot progresses quickly. Waynes World is a good movie in that it is a comedy that actually does have a plot. This cannot be said, for example, of a movie like Dumb and Dumber. And the dialogue in Wayne's World is logical, and the characters and thier motivations remain constant throughout the movie.

I discovered in this viewing that "that's what she said", made popular by Michael from The Office, is a joke that originated with Wayne!! (I was not aware of that~were you aware of that?)

And the movie of course if full of classic lines: "I defiantly smell a pork product of some kind", "No Stairway! Denied!" "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" and "cha! And monkeys might fly out of my butt!"

It is a hilarious movie.

Poppy Treffry Purses

Is this not the cutest purse ever???? I found out about it from some sort of internet search. It's a Poppy Treffry purse, and it is based out of England. The line has received quite a bit of press coverage, and I believe that you can order one of their purses over the telephone. A lot seems to be sold in retail, however, in places like England, Scotland, and Ireland.

The Poppy Treffery also makes tea cosies, pictures, and various sizes of the "flouncy purse" (pictured on the left).

The Poppry Treffery line has lots of fun appliqued pictures sewn into the purses. Find out more about them at www.poppytreffry.co.uk
